Ierland vakantie 2002/ Connemara

Dit kiekje is uit de trein van Dublin naar Galway.
Galway is een centrale stad in westen van Ierland, vanuit hier kan je zowel de Connemara als de Burren bereizen.
De flauwe heuvels die je hier vanuit het raampje ziet, zijn typerend voor de hele reis door de binnenlanden.
Later hoorde ik, dat de bus een paar euro goedkoper is, er maar een half uur langer over doet (3½ i.p.v. 3 uur) en bovendien zo'n beetje elk uur gaat. De trein gaat maar een paar keer per dag.......

From Dublin, I took the train to Galway, the central city for the Connemara and the Burren.
As you can see here, the midlands of Ireland are flat. Not as flat as the Netherlands, but only slightly accidented.
Later on I heard from a sleapy in Galway, that the bus is some cheaper, and only takes a little longer (3½ instead of 3 hours). There are a few different busses scheduled every hour till late in the evening, while thrain is scheduled a few times a day.......

Hier zie je een echt fjord, bekend uit Noorwegen.
Ik heb me late vertellen, dat dit de enige fjord van Ierland is.
Kennelijk zit er veel vis in dit water, want overal zie je drijvers van visnetten.

You have got here real fjords, well known in Norway.
If I am well informed this fjord at the north-side of the Connemara is the only fjord of Ireland.
There seems to be a lot of fish in the water here, because all along the fjord I saw fishing equipment floating in the water.

Hier een prentje van Galway winkelcentrum.
Net als in Dublin stonden hier op sommige plaatsen mensen met een reclamebord in de band met een pijl naar iets wat ze onder de aandacht brengen.
