Dit prentje is aardig kenmerkend voor het landschap van de Burren, waar ik doorheen getrokken ben.
In tegenstelling tot Connemara, aan de andere kant van de baai, zijn de heuvels hier niet stijl, maar afgeschuurd door de ijstijden.

While the hills of thc Connemare are steep and high, the hills on this side of the Galway bay are gentle slopes.

Mijn uitvalsbasis in The Burren was Doolin, is The Aileriver Hostel.
Dit (toeristen-)dorp staat bekend om zijn 3 meest gerenomeerde pubs van Ierland.
Zelf vind ik het wat toeristisch, en ze gebruiken versterkers om de pub vol te zetten met muziek.
Doolin ligt wel erg strategisch in de Burren, dicht bij de Cliffs of Moher, en bussen gaan er ook alle kanten uit.
As my basic camp I chose the Aileriver hostel of Doolin.
The village economy is purely based on the tourist industry.
The 3 most renomated pubs of Ireland are situated in there.
All pubs play live music every night, but they use amplifiers to fill all the pub with music.
Doolin is situated very strategically, near the Cliffs of Moher, and the buses take you to the area.

Vanuit mijn standplaats heb ik in twee etappes de Burren way gelopen.
De Burren way is net als de Wicklow way, een uitgezette wandeling.
Alleen gaat de Burren way alleen door het westelijke deel van de Burren, en is maar 45 km lang.
Vanuit Doolin zijn beide eindpunten van de Burren way met de bus te bereiken.
Dus ik ging 's ochtens met de bus naar een uiteind, en wandelde terug naar de hostel met mijn rugzakje.
From the hostel in Doolin, I have walked the Burren way in 2 parts.
The Burren way is like the Wicklow way a signposted walking way.
But this one is only 45 km. and only the west part of the Burren.
From Doolin both ends of the bidirectional way can easily be reached by bus.
So I went for 2 days by bus to one the ends in the morning, to hike back to the hostel.

Dit tafereel trof ik aan, toen ik samen met een stel jonge Ieren uit Wicklow het noordelijke deel van de Burren way liep.

This scene caught my eye on the north part of the Burren way, where I was walking together with a you Irish couple from Wicklow.
Tese creatures seem to be put down here by human hands, but what is the the use?
