Variation number 7: A longer wheel-base on bike and trike.

return to start to previous page
A known problem in front wheel driven bikes is, that the front wheel has the tendency to slip through, especially on a slippery road, while accelerating and while climbing.
A standard Flevo is designed so that those shortcomings are just acceptable: No problems on the flat road.
Yet, I chose to make the wheel base of both my bike and my trike 10 cm. longer. This makes the wheel pressure of the front wheel much higher. It takes a little more place in the barn, but it gives a remarkable advantage in less optimal riding circumstances! I can recommend it to everyone. An attendant advantage of the longer wheel-base is, that the luggage trunk can be increased with the same distance.
