Op weg naar het beginpunt van de Wicklow Way.
Het eerste deel van de reis heb ik de DART (Dublin Area Rapid Transport, commercieel transportbedrijf) genomen.
Dit is een soort metro, die de buitenwijken en dicht bij gelegen steden met Dublin city verbindt.
On my way to the 'Wicklow Way'.
The first trip with the DART (Dublin Area Rapid Transport, commercial company).
This is a kind of Metro connecting the city Dublin on a regular and frequent basis with the suburbs and some near cities.

Op het eindpunt van de DART ben ik uitgestapt, dit is Brai.
Het traject wat ik afgelegd heb met de DART lag langs de kust, en soms enkel gescheiden van het strand door een kademuur.
Since the DART doesn't take me futher than Brai I stepped out here.
The trip to here was all along the shore, sometimes even along the beach, solely protected by a wall.

Voor de rest van het traject heb ik de trein (overheid) genomen.
Vooral tijdens het traject van Wicklow naar Arklow was ik aan het raam gekluisterd.
The rest of the trip I took the train (public).
Especially the journey from Wicklow to Arklow was a beautifull trip.

Dankzij de touwen blijft hij toch prima hangen, waar zeuren we nog over?
I took this pickture this switch kabinet out of the train window.
Thanks to the ropes it stays perfectly on it's place, why should you worry?

Hier kwam ik voor, de Wicklow way.
Een uitgezette wandeling door de heuvels en bergen van County Wicklow.
Grotendeels is de tocht over wandelpaden, hier en daar over lokale binnenweggetjes.
This is where I came for, the Wicklow Way.
The way is leading is through the hills and maountains of co. Wicklow, and is marked with these two types of signs.

In mijn rugzak zitten mijn lunch en ander dingen die je mogelijk nodig kunt hebben op zo'n wandeling
Op mijn buik heb ik een waterdichte kaartenhoes bevestigd.
Daardoor kon ik elk moment op de kaart kijken, ook in de stromende regen (niet denkbeeldig in Ierland).
Op sommige plaatsen ontbraken de wijzers, dus het was verstandig om regelmatig de kaart in de gaten te houden.
In my bag I carry my lunch and other stuff I might need that day.
On the frontside of my bag I fixed a plastic mapholder.
This is to have a quick look on the map when needed, and not to forget, to protect it against like the elements.
Sometimes a sign was missing, so I preferred to have a regular look at the map.
